Call me narcissist if you must but this blog is all about ME. I have another blog about my kids, whom I love and adore writing about. But I was Nicole a long time before I was mom and I don't intend to give up being Nicole overnight.

Name That Movie Monday: Special Edition

Due to the bridal shower I threw this weekend for my sister who is getting married in a few weeks I did not publish a Flashback Friday last week.

But never fear my faithful followers. I am going to make it up to you with a very special Name that Movie Monday today. One of the games at the shower this weekend was a quiz of movie quotes from chick flicks. So today I have decided to give you not one, not two, but TEN movie quotes!!! You read right. TEN Movie quotes from some of my favorite chick flicks. Are you up to the challenge?

Match The Movie Quote to correct the chick flick

“I know you can be under whelmed, and you can be overwhelmed, but can you ever just be, like, whelmed?"

"It's such a nice sounding word for what it means: a fortunate accident."

“Death Cannot Stop true love. All it can do is delay it for awhile.”

“If you love someone you say it right then, out loud. Otherwise the moment just passes you by.”

“I've never seen my sister so happy. If you hurt her I'll kill you and make it look like an accident.”

“I'm also just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love me.”

“Please get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.”

“That's wonderfully sensitive, especially from a man who wears such tight pants.”

“I've had a really lousy Christmas, you've just managed to kill my New Year's, if you come back on Easter- you can burn down my apartment.”

“A movie! That's your problem! You don't want to be in love. You want to be in love in a movie.”

Sleepless in Seattle
The Princess Bride
My Best Friend’s Wedding
Music and Lyrics
While You Were Sleeping
Notting Hill
The Wedding Singer
Serendipity
My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding
10 Things I Hate About You

There is no prize for getting them all right, except the satisfaction of knowing that you know your chick flicks. Oh, and a free Redbox movie, if you happen to live in a Redbox market:89ZQJ3

Although if any of my male readers get all 10 correct without the help of their significant other and without the help of Google I may have to wrestle up a real prize for you. So start guessing!

Name That Movie Monday

Each Monday I fret over whether it is better to quote an oldie but a goodie that many people are likely to guess or whether I should quote something new and fresh, thus introducing you, my vast readership of 3, to great new movies. This week I went with something new. (hint, hint) And, here's another hint, it's a movie I bought this weekend for my kids. (Meaning it's NOT Twilight.) AND I'm giving you not one but TWO quotes from the movie because I'm extra generous that way.

Just the knowledge that every minute spent in your company becomes the new greatest minute of my life.

Ring ring. Who is it? Destiny. I've been expecting your call.

And now before you get your movie code-a question. I have a little dilemma on my hands. I used to buy new movies the week they came out because they are $5 cheaper that first week at Target and Walmart. But the last few times I went to purchase a new Disney movie release week they were not on sale. I was baffled so I called my resident Disney movie expert, my brother. He informed me that he had read that Disney had raised the price on their DVD's so they could lower the price of Blu-Ray. So, now the price variance between the two formats is only $5. (Well, at least on Disney movies.) And so the question is, do I make the jump to Blu-ray? Or do I hold out a bit longer. Is the price of Blu-Ray players and movies going to fall even further once digital television becomes the standard? Because right now I don't even own a High-Definition television so Blu-ray isn't going to look much different to me. But my husband says that we'll eventually have HD and then we'll already have a nice collection of HD movies started.

What do you think?

Here is your reward for sitting through my inner debate-your free Redbox movie code:HG7W56

Happy watching!

Flashback Friday

Due to a special request this week's Flashback Friday is starring Andria. And although she didn't request it, it's also starring Heidi. Because, well, we're kind of like the 3 Musketeers.

I did have some pictures of just Andria, but you know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so I had to opt for some different memories to share.

Here is a a lovely picture of the time we painted the playhouse in our grandmother's backyard.

Painting the Playhouse

We are supposed to be showing off all the paint that we got on ourselves.

And here is a time that we were Warrior Princesses. We had made the crowns, daggers, and shields our of cardboard, obviously.

Warrior Princesses

I think it's funny that Heidi and I are both in our ballerina turned out toes stance.

I suppose this was before we were really rich princesses and could afford fancy dresses.

Ah, the simple joys of childhood.

Blog-iversary

Today is the one year anniversary of when I started blogging. Yup, one year ago today I wrote my very first public blog post.

It's certainly had it's ups and downs. When I first began I was totally addicted. I think it was the pent up writer in me trying to get out. Then I kind of lost interest for a little while because I thought nobody was out there and what's the point of writing if nobody reads it. Then I started finding more bloggy friends and it became fun again. Then life got crazy and despite an honest desire to write I just didn't have the time. That's actually where I'm at right now. I have more to write about then hours in the day to write. But come April after the primary activity is over, my son's birthday party is over and my sister's wedding is over I'm actually hoping that life will mellow a bit and I'll get to write more.

I had somebody ask me the other day what some of my hobbies where. When I told them I blogged they looked at me funny and said, "No, like real hobbies." Blogging is a REAL hobby, thank you very much!

So, a very happy blog-iversary to me a very Happy Fat Mattress Day to you!

Name that Movie Monday

Hello, is anyone there? Or did I lose you all by being late today? Hello? Hello?

Sorry again about the late post today. I signed up for a quilt block of the month class and today was my first class. And boy am I a fish out of water!

But never fear, today's quote was worth the wait. You see, last week I went bra shopping with my sister. I have never in my life bought a bra at Victoria's Secret. I think I've always been a bit intimidated by all the pink. But I'm 30 now and have nursed 3 children and, well, for lack of a more tactful way to put it, I wanted a nice bra that would disguise the fact that I have mommy boobs.

So today's movie quote is in honor of my new bras. Yes, I walked out of there with not 1, not 2, but 3 new bras. And guess what, I love them!

I know I am going to miss the heels because they do something for my posture. And I'm suddenly very aware and proud of my breasts.

And, for patiently waiting for me today I wish I could give you TWO free movie quotes. But alas, Redbox only sends me one each day. So, here it is:2GR4N8

BTW, I received the text with today's code in the middle of my class and felt like such a rebel having a cell phone in class.

Delayed

Headed out the door for my very first Quilt Block of the Month Class.....so Name that Movie Monday will be a bit delayed today.

But never fear, you can always head over to my other blog for a spell. And then you can stop by Blogtations for some of the best quotes on the web, which today includes a quote from me

See you this afternoon. I have a great quote picked out! I know you're on pins and needles waiting.

We're no strangers to love, or how I learned about Rick

I clearly remember the first time I got Rickroll'd. I thought my baby brother was making fun of all 80's music videos and found him funny.

Really he was making fun of me because I had no idea what a Rickroll was.

But, I'd only been a blogger for about 15 days at that point, so what do you expect.

Since that time I've been Rickroll'd more times than I can count. Mostly by my husband and, you guessed it, my baby brother.

There were a few memorable ones though. Like during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Or just tonight when I was rickroll'd while sitting in my car.

But this one takes the cake!

Some people have WAY too much time on their hands.

Must give a big shout out to Musing from Blogtations for alerting me to the Barack roll. It was the highlight of my day. (You can read all about her initiation into the world of rickroll in her guest post over at Velveteen Mind, which I stumbled upon today.)

Flashback Friday

I always have grand plans for Flashback Friday. I have so many good memories to share! Problem is I usually wait until Friday morning to start gathering things and then inevitably can't find what I am looking for all the while kids are needing things and so I end up doing something else, less grand than my original plans.

So, of course, that is what happened today, again. I have a good idea that is just taking too long to materialize and kids who want lunch and contacts that need to be picked up before 3:00. So, I decided that I was going to do Flashback Friday over at my other blog today. Mostly because it could be done quite quickly since all the pictures I need are already uploaded to my flickr account. Hope you enjoy.

p.s.
Dear Andria,

I'll make sure you are featured next week, I promise. :)

Name that Movie Monday

Hum, what clever, witty one liner should I treat you with today? There are so many good ones to choose from. Sometimes I feel it a pity to only do one a week. This has become one of my new favorites. And not just because the lead character is delicious eye candy. (Although that certainly doesn't hurt!)

Is it better to be feared or respected? I say, is it too much to ask for both?

This is not actually my favorite line in the movie. But all the really good lines give it away too quickly.

And here is today's Redbox movie code: F3T9L6

And for what it's worth the last two movies I rented at Redbox, Bottle Shock and Australia, were great! In fact, I watched Australia twice.

Flashback Friday

Spring cleaning is in full force at my house. (even though there is now on the ground) I came across this photo while cleaning and knew I had to use it today.

Flashback Friday

This was just before I left on my mission and I had a few friends over for a little going away party. Mike had only been home from his mission for about a month. (He had also just spent the last week at Lake Powell, hence the awesome tan.) Back before I knew I was going to end up marrying him someday.

He claims I spent the day freaking him out. See as a missionary for 2 years girls were totally off limits so then on this day he claims I hugged him and "flirted" with him and wouldn't let him leave every time he tried to escape the madness. I honestly don't remember all that. I remember being totally obsessed by the fact that my ex-boyfriend showed up with some chic who was sitting on his lap and how tacky I thought he was being. (I think I have a picture of the ex with his new fling somewhere....maybe I'll have to pull that out someday. Or then again, maybe not.)

A slight misunderstanding

My husband was trying to talk to me about my day last night as I was falling asleep. (Mind you it was only 8:15 pm. Yea, a real party animal.) He was talking to me about my blog post for that day. He started singing the Men in Black theme song.

"Here come the men in black. Galaxy defenders"

Being half asleep I misunderstood what he said. What I heard was:

"Here come the men in black, Catholics in suspenders."

Name that Movie Monday

Since I know you all stop by to test your movie trivia knowledge (or should I say your trivial movie knowledge) we'll cut straight to the chase today.

Here's your quote:

You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look good.

And, for your efforts here is your free movie code: MS72K3

Make my day. Give it a guess.
