Call me narcissist if you must but this blog is all about ME. I have another blog about my kids, whom I love and adore writing about. But I was Nicole a long time before I was mom and I don't intend to give up being Nicole overnight.

p.s.

Who needs Botox? Me, apparently.

Several months ago I read in a magazine that when calling a dermatologist Botox patients get appoints 3x's faster than patients wanting a mole check. I kind of chuckled at the little tidbit of information and moved on with my life.

Fast forward to today. I have a mole that, in the past several months has begun to change in size and color. So, just as a precaution I decide to have it looked at. I finally get around to calling the dermatologist recommended by my insurance and you want to know when they can get me in....November!!! (and this was after being on hold 8 minutes just to talk to somebody!) No, seriously. I may have skin cancer, and we're always told that early detection is the key....and yet they can't see me until November! I may be dead by then!!!!

Okay, okay, that's a little melodramatic.

I was toying with the idea of calling back and telling them I wanted Botox.

Instead I called a different dermatologist who requires a much farther drive to go see, but who could see me in September. Still 3 weeks out, but I'll take what I can get.

It is truly crazy, isn't it. I had an in-grown toe nail that was infected, making my toe huge and purple. The closest apointment the podiatrist had was two months out. I ended up going to my family doctor instead. All was good in the end.

Hope the mole is nothing. Keep us posted.

Sorry I have been out of touch recently. My "The Family..." blog roll has not been updating like it is suppose to. I started catching up this morning. Sorry it has been a really rough couple of week. The IRS thing would send me over the edge all on its own.

I think you're onto something there. When you call to make the appointment, you say, "I'd like some Botox, and ask the doctor to look at my mole too." Then you "change your mind" about the Botox. You're brilliant! Great tip.

I too have had mole drama. I asked to have several looked at so the doctor looked. These are not malignant, she said. That's good, I said. Let's take them off to be safe, I said. Can't do that, she said. I don't remove moles for aesthetic reasons. WHAAAT? OK, I said, then I'm worried that these are cancer and I'll sue you if you don't remove them and I die.
Sure, she said, I'll get the nitrogen canister.
Sometimes you gotta play the game. Nuf said.
