Call me narcissist if you must but this blog is all about ME. I have another blog about my kids, whom I love and adore writing about. But I was Nicole a long time before I was mom and I don't intend to give up being Nicole overnight.

p.s.
You can read all about my kids at Naptime Optional.

Flashback Friday

My husband has accused me of always embarrassing him with my Flashback Fridays. So today I have vowed to only embarrass me. And maybe a couple of my cousins. Who shall remain nameless in order to protect the innocent.

The sloppy handwriting on the back of these lovely reminiscences indicates that they were taken in August 1993. Back then my cousins and I loved to play dress up. We especially loved to play that we were princesses. (I know, you're shocked.)

So feast your eyes on the beauties that were us "Once Upon A Time...."

Back then I was carrying a high quality 110 camera. (Does that age me?) So, of course, the pictures are also extremely high quality. Especially since they are taken in my Grandmother's very dark basement. Ah, those were the days.

P.S. These word verification "words" sound a lot like the words Moira makes up (gonsit and prent). Ive decided it must be toddlers who write them.

Oh, those poor, nameless cousins.

If I remember correctly, there were also some crowns and other jewels that were used in the dressing up.

The really sad thing is that one of your cousins graduated from high school a year later. What was she thinking?!

i remember some of us younger cousins wanting to play. But we were banned from basement during this time. Wow you guys look gorgeous.

Katie says she remembers that you did let play, if we were the pets or slaves. You stuffed blankets in the window and over stairs and we would sit complaining that it wasn't FAIR!!

*laugh* Megan you are so right!! I also recall that these fabulous dresses (purchased at the DI) were OFF LIMITS to us. We were under no circumstances to wear them.... ever. And we so wanted to! But alas, it was our fate to sit and envy the beautiful princesses and dream of a day when we would once become princesses as well.

LOVE YOU NICOLE!!!!!! :)

Wow, this didn't bring up just memories for those who played princesses. I didn't realize how much we scarred the younger ones. We made them be pets or slaves?!

I'm glad you did this Flashback Friday. I've needed a good laugh.

LOL! I was just seriously waiting for the day. Those are some seriously fabulous memories. I also remember the jewelry and also the dreaming...if you go to sleep thinking about something, then you'll for sure dream about it. I think I still have a pearl ring and a heart. LOVE IT!
I still remember banning the younger girls too. (Something about us being too embarrased or something-wonder why?) But pets or slaves? I don't remember that. I do remember the huge efforts to hang up those afghans, those things are heavy!!

I think everyone has pictures of them in dresses in front of a giant brick fireplace, right? I know I certainly do! Isn't it funny how things seem so normal at the time and then you look back on them and blush? I must be getting older!

That dress you are wearing is really pretty actually. I think it is funny that you were older and still dressing up.
