Call me narcissist if you must but this blog is all about ME. I have another blog about my kids, whom I love and adore writing about. But I was Nicole a long time before I was mom and I don't intend to give up being Nicole overnight.

p.s.
You can read all about my kids at Naptime Optional.

I'll catch the re-run

I have a small confession to make. I didn't watch the Presidential Inauguration today. Does that make me un-American?

In all honesty I think it just makes me a mom. Because somewhere between the piles of laundry, the stacks of dirty dishes, the 4 year old with a fever, the bills that needed to be paid, the church phone calls to make, the 4 poopy diapers that needed to be changed (all before noon!) and the kids that wanted to be fed I just plain forgot that it was today.

The press has been pushing the significance of this particular inauguration, saying that it will be in the history books and that the generations that follow will ask in awe what we were doing on this historically significant day.

Apparently it all still pales in comparison to everyday motherhood.

We watched it, we didn't have an eventful day like you. I'd watch it though, Obama's speech and then the benediction prayer, if you can call it that. haha, you'll understand when you watch it. Also the musical # at the beginning and the poem, were both pretty good.

I didn't see it either today or yesterday for that matter.

I had no intention of watching it, but then ended up seeing part of it because I was nursing and flipping channels.

The beauty of living in the you-tube generation is that you don't really have to miss anything you don't want to!

It was nice, though.

I thought the poem was weird but maybe it was just he way she read it. I wouldn't have watched it or listened to it (in my case) if it hadn't been for Tyler and nothing else to do during our 2 1/2 hour drive.

I watched it. Jonah wanted me to turn the "movie" off. Apparently it was very boring to him. I was surprised it was so short. I mostly wanted to see it because 1) we actually had TV and 2) since I've never seen one, why not?
I hated the "color commentary" so when I realized it was on PBS, I watched it on there. And I totally skipped the opening prayer--it was wacko!
